Deer Trail 1st Graders recently learned about the ancient civilizations of the Aztecs, Mayans and Incas. Students studied the history and geography of each culture while applying reading and writing skills. The unit concluded with the students making ornate head-dresses specific to the individual tribe they studied.

Lance Reed portraying Lane Frost. A Colorado native from La Junta. He was an American professional bull rider who was the 1987 World Champion of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a 1990 Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame inductee.
